A statewide get-out-the-vote campaign has resulted in an election-year flurry of Democratic voter registrations, with more than 6.7 million people signing up as Democrats and nearly 5.03 million registering as Republicans, the secretary of state reported today.

Of the 19 million Californians eligible, a total of 13.19 million people were registered to vote through Sept. 9, said a spokeswoman for Secretary of State March Fong Eu--50.98% declaring themselves Democrats and 38.12% Republicans. Final figures for Election Day are expected at the end of the month.
