Rockets Trade 2 for Sacramento’s Otis Thorpe
The Houston Rockets traded forwards Rodney McCray and Jim Petersen to the Sacramento Kings for forward Otis Thorpe Tuesday.
Thorpe, 6 feet 11 inches, is a 4-year National Basketball Assn. veteran who averaged a career-high 20.8 points and 10.2 rebounds a game last season.
“When I arrived, I felt the team needed a shooting guard and a power forward,” said Rocket Coach Don Chaney. “Otis Thorpe fills the forward spot. He has the potential to become an all-star.”
McCray (6-7), a 5-year veteran, has averaged 12.5 points and 6.7 rebounds, and Petersen (6-10) has averaged 7.6 points and 5.2 rebounds over his 4-year career.
