Ford Motor Co. said it began exporting its Mercury Sable to Taiwan, making it the first car Ford has exported to that country. The Sable was selected as the first car for export to Taiwan in order to tap into the demand for larger cars in a country where most vehicles are compacts and subcompacts, said Bob Day, a Ford spokesman in Dearborn, Mich. Ford has yet to set a sales price for the Sable in Taiwan. Depending on options, the mid-size Sable sells for about $13,000 to $20,000 in the United States.
