PREP FOOTBALL : Tonight’s Football Games : Santiago Needs Victory to Stay in the Race
Santiago High School’s football team will try to stay in the race for the Garden Grove League title tonight.
The Cavaliers (3-2 overall, 1-1 in the league) play Kennedy at 7:30 p.m. at Garden Grove High School. Kennedy (3-1-1, 2-0) is tied for first with Pacifica, which beat Santiago, 20-14, 2 weeks ago.
Both teams won last week. Santiago ended a 2-game losing with a 36-7 victory over Rancho Alamitos. Kennedy defeated La Quinta, 18-7.
Quarterback Dana Ripley has been the Cavaliers’ main offensive weapon, throwing for 611 yards and 7 touchdowns. He also has been intercepted 6 times, 5 of those against Corona del Mar.
Kennedy quarterback Pete Montera is coming off his best game of the season, passing for 251 yards and 1 touchdown. Montera has thrown for 718 yards and 6 touchdowns this season.
The Fighting Irish appear to have a more balanced attack, with tailback Ed Williams rushing for 436 yards and 7 touchdowns. Rudy Motley has 229 yards rushing.

Magnolia vs. Anaheim at Glover Stadium, Southern California Christian at La Verne Lutheran.
