Burlington Northern’s net income fell 27.5% to $120 million in the third quarter due in part to a one-time special charge of $230 million related to natural gas take-or-pay claims. Revenue for the Seattle-based transportation and natural resources holding company was nearly $1.7 billion, about the same as last year.
