Muir 34, Hoover 7--Muir quarterback Darick Holmes ran for 5 touchdowns to lead the Mustangs at Hoover. Holmes, who rushed for 170 yards in 12 carries, scored on runs of 75, 8, 9, 3 and 1 yard.
Hoover (0-5-1, 0-2) capped a 78-yard, 12-play drive on the opening series with Erik Messal’s 6-yard touchdown run.
Holmes, who completed 3 of 6 for 55 yards, tied the score 30 seconds later with a 75-yard gallop. Defensive back Adolfho Inacheta had 4 tackles on special teams for Muir (5-2, 2-0).
Hoover running back Johnny Chung rushed for 52 yards in 9 carries and flanker Mike Rotondi caught 3 passes for 45 yards.
