Mission Viejo Holds Lead Amid Changes in Prep Poll
Unbeaten Mission Viejo High School remained the top-ranked team in the Orange County Sportswriters’ Assn. prep football poll, but there were some significant changes with Edison and Servite losing for the first time this season.
Fountain Valley, the county’s top-ranked team in the first week of the season, jumped from fifth to second after its 28-21 victory over Edison. Edison dropped to fifth, and Servite fell to fourth after a 34-18 loss to St. Paul.
Ninth-ranked Katella, which made its first appearance in the poll in the school’s 27-year history, meets seventh-ranked Los Alamitos at 7:30 Friday night in Veterans Stadium at Long Beach.
