Local News in Brief : Santa Ana : College’s Enrollment Figures Show Increase
Rancho Santiago College registration officials announced that 21,178 students enrolled this fall for college credit classes--a 1.8% increase over last fall’s 20,794 students.
Enrollment in non-credit Continuing Education courses increased by almost 2,000 students to a total of 12,917 students--a 17.9% increase, according to spokesman Henry Kertman.
College Chancellor Robert D. Jensen said he was “very pleased” by the enrollment figures, which show “consistent growth.” He added: “I’m especially excited about our 10% increase in new (students from) high school . . . and the 8% increase in returning students. These amounts indicate that our ongoing student recruitment and retention efforts are proving successful.”
A breakdown of the enrollment in credit courses showed 61% of the students are white; 18% Latino; 15% Asian; 3% black, and 3% American Indian and other categories.
