A couple who had planned to marry this weekend were found dead, overcome by leaking gas, in their modest residential motel room in Hayward. Police said Michael Horvath, 33, and Gloria Burroughs, 34, had managed to eke out a life together despite his emotional problems and the fact that she was deaf and diabetic. Officials said a faulty water heater leaked carbon monoxide into the room.
