Fiesta Bowl Will Not Be Rescheduled
TEMPE, Ariz. — The Fiesta Bowl game between Notre Dame and West Virginia will not be moved to Jan. 3, and will be played as scheduled on Jan. 2, bowl officials said Wednesday.
Don Meyers, selection chairman, had said Saturday night that the game might be moved if top-ranked Notre Dame (10-0) beats No. 2 USC Saturday, which could set up a national game championship game with West Virginia (11-0).
Fiesta president Phil Motta said Wednesday the bowl’s board of directors voted unanimously at its monthly meeting Monday night that their 18th annual football game be played Jan. 2 as scheduled.
