Unbeaten Irvine Advances in Girls’ State Volleyball
Defending champion Irvine High School defeated North High of Bakersfield Saturday night, 15-7, 15-11, 15-10, to advance to the State girls’ Division I volleyball semifinals.
Irvine (21-0) will play host to Los Altos of the Central Coast Section Tuesday night, Los Altos defeated Logan High of Union City, 15-6, 12-15, 9-15, 15-8, 15-12, to advance.
Gahr, the Southern Section 4-A champion defeated 5-A runner-up Mira Costa, 15-6, 8-15, 15-11, 15-7, and will meet Davis, a 17-15, 15-8, 12-15, 11-15, 15-10 winner over Fremont High of Sunnyvale, in the other Division I semifinal match.
Highland High of Bakersfield downed St. Anthony, 12-15, 15-3, 9-15, 15-11, 15-6, to move into the Division II final against the winner of Tuesday night’s semifinal match between Petaluma and South San Francisco.
In Division III, defending champion San Diego Francis Parker defeated Los Angeles Baptist, 15-12, 15-5, 15-2 to advance to the Saturday’s State final at Cal State Fullerton against Linden.
