The number of working U.S. rotary rigs, a key barometer of the health of the oil industry, fell by 12 to 911 last week, Baker Hughes Inc. said Monday.

This was 29% below the rig count of 1,161 a year ago. The total reflects the number of rigs actively exploring for, not producing oil.
