Local News in Brief : Anaheim : Councilman Hunter Sworn In as New Mayor
Fred Hunter was sworn in as the city’s new mayor Tuesday. Hunter, a personal injury attorney, was first elected to the City Council in 1986.
Outgoing Mayor Ben Bay, who last summer announced his retirement after 9 years on the council, was honored with letters from President Reagan and local politicians.
Bay also received a tongue-in-cheek commendation from council colleagues celebrating his “dubious pleasure” in leading them for the past 2 years.
The city’s newest councilman, Tom Daly, and returning incumbent William D. Ehrle were also sworn in.
