Defense of New Age
I have been called “the spokesman for the New Age” and the “legal representative of the New Age.” In addition to being a lawyer, I host a New Age talk show every week on KFOX-FM.
I must agree that much of what is called the “New Age” is indeed rubbish. Some channelers are inauthentic, some practitioners are motivated inordinately by financial rewards, some people in the movement do not “walk their talk” and some individuals do dive headlong into the practices or philosophies contained therein without a strong sense of having their feet firmly on the ground.
The vast majority, however, of New Age followers and New Age practices and philosophies give great evidence of an extraordinarily positive evolution in this country and around the world. Despite the assertion in the article that New Agers “live in their own worlds . . . and possess a ferocious superficiality,” I have found the opposite to be true.
