Postmaster General Anthony M. Frank announced that the Postal Service and Dallas billionaire H. Ross Perot’s company, Perot Systems Corp., have agreed to drop their embattled $500,000 no-bid contract to study cost-saving measures. “Despite an excellent effort by Perot Systems, the contract has been tied up so badly by protests and lawsuits that we have lost much of the original opportunity. And even more delays are likely, due to still active lawsuits between Perot and General Motors,” Frank said in a statement. Perot and his former company, Dallas-based Electronic Data Systems, are locked in state and federal lawsuits over whether he is violating a covenant with EDS not to compete against the company until December, 1989.
