Anaheim : Local News in Brief : Olympic Athletes to Join Hotel’s ‘Walk of Stars’
County athletes who won gold medals in the Seoul Olympics will be honored next month when their names are engraved in Anaheim’s “Walk of Stars.”
Diver Greg Louganis, a graduate of UC Irvine who lives in Mission Viejo, swimmer Janet Evans of Placentia, volleyball players Steve Timmons of Newport Beach and Scott Fortune of Laguna Beach and kayak competitors Greg Barton and Norman Bellingham, both of Newport Beach, will be honored in a Jan. 7 ceremony.
A bronze plaque bearing their autographs will be placed in a sidewalk known as the “Walk of Stars” in front of the Anaheim Hilton Hotel & Towers during the ceremony.
The athletes will join entertainment stars Steve Martin, Joey Bishop, Jose Feliciano, Buddy Epsen and others honored since the “Walk of Stars” was started last year by the hotel.
