Nation : Armed Santa Flees With $695,000
WEST HARTFORD, Conn. — A man dressed in a Santa Claus suit and brandishing a revolver robbed an armored car of $695,000 today, then fled with an accomplice in a Volkswagen, police said.
The robber took two sacks of cash from a Dunbar Armored Security guard as the guard and his partner picked up the money from a United Bank branch at a shopping plaza, said Detective Capt. Russell Hughes. One guard was inside the bank when the robbery occurred. The disguised robber then hopped into a brown Volkswagen Jetta driven by the second man and escaped on a nearby interstate, Hughes said. No shots were fired.
