A Basque separatist group claimed responsibility for three bombings and a shooting last week that left two people dead and 18 wounded in northern Spain. In a statement published in the Basque newspaper Egin, ETA (Basque Homeland and Freedom) said it exploded a car bomb last Sunday that killed a police officer in Eibar and that it shot dead a bar owner allegedly involved in drug trafficking in Zarauz last Thursday. The group also claimed a grenade attack on a Civil Guard barracks Friday in Alsasua that seriously injured one guard and said it planted another bomb near Areta on Friday that damaged several Civil Guard vehicles and slightly injured one guard and a bystander.
