STATE : Police Slayer Found Dead in Cell
SAN QUENTIN — Joselito Cinco, sentenced to death for the 1984 murders of two San Diego police officers, apparently committed suicide by hanging himself in his prison cell, officials said today.
Cinco, 29, of Spring Valley had been on San Quentin’s Death Row since July. He was sentenced last June following his conviction in the slayings of San Diego Police officers Kimberly Tonahill and Timothy Ruopp. A prison spokesman said a correctional officer making routine rounds found Cinco’s body in his cell early Monday. He said the prisoner hanged himself with a shoelace tied to his cell door.
