NATION : Family of 5 Dies in Ohio Car Crash
COLUMBUS, Ohio — A family of five, including a child, died in a fiery crash after a motorist fleeing police at more than 80 m.p.h. ran a red light and slammed into their car, authorities said today.
Witnesses said the force of the crash Tuesday night tore the family’s car in half, hurled its engine 50 yards down the street and caused the car to burst into flames. The driver of the fleeing car, Emmett Gabriel, 30, was hospitalized in poor condition after undergoing surgery for facial injuries, a broken wrist and chest bruises. Police did not immediately identify the family.
