Community College Basketball : Rancho Santiago Routs Marymount
Center Matt Lin scored 26 points and had 14 rebounds in his first start of the season to lead Rancho Santiago College to a 113-69 victory over Marymount Tuesday in the first round of the Rancho Santiago holiday tournament.
Tony Smalley added 22 points for the Dons (9-5). Tommy Villanueva added 13 points and 6 assists for Rancho Santiago. Ernie Wood scored 35 for Marymount (4-8).
In the Palomar tournament:
Fullerton 95, College of the Canyons 84--Mike Goff scored 35 points and Darryl Griffin added 31 in a first-round game. The game marked the first time in 15 years that two Fullerton players each scored more than 30 points in the same game. Scootie Lynwood had 13 assists for Fullerton (14-2).
In the San Diego Mesa tournament:
Orange Coast 78, Phoenix 45--Dareck Crane scored 24 points and Derek Johnson 15 to lead Orange Coast (13-2), which plays Rio Hondo tonight at 6 p.m. for the title.
