Council Studies Limit to Toxic Sewer Wastes
Glendale officials this week proposed rules to bring the city’s industrial waste regulations into conformity with those of the city of Los Angeles.
The changes, to be adopted in an ordinance next week, will restrict the amount and types of toxic substances that can be dumped into the sewer system.
Los Angeles Mayor Tom Bradley in August called on neighboring cities to reduce the amount of toxic heavy metals that go into the Los Angeles sewer system. The largest cities using the system are Glendale, Burbank, Santa Monica and Beverly Hills.
