Los Angeles-based IDB Communications Group Inc., a provider of satellite transmission services for radio and television, has agreed to purchase the Hughes Television Network for about $35 million in cash, according to an IDB spokesman. Headquartered in New York, Hughes was once owned by the late billionaire Howard Hughes, who intended to make it into a fourth television network. According to IDB president Jeffrey Sudikoff, Hughes had gross sales of about $22 million last year, and currently controls scheduling of 14 transponders on five different satellites.
