Bickmore Helps SCC Win Its Sixth Game in a Row
The Southern California College men’s basketball team increased its winning streak to six games with a 92-86 victory Friday over visiting Cal State San Bernardino.
San Bernardino stayed with the Vanguards early, but SCC’s Jeff Bickmore started a run of 10 points with a backdoor layup to give the Vanguards a 25-15 lead 8 minutes into the game. Bickmore finished with 20 points and 10 rebounds.
San Bernardino’s Mark Warren scored 18 of his game-high 40 points in the first half to give the Coyotes a 40-38 halftime lead. Warren, who also had 18 rebounds and was 14 for 14 from the free throw line, scored with 3 minutes 52 seconds remaining to give San Bernardino its final lead, 79-78, before the Vanguards took the lead for good on 2 free throws by Bickmore, 80-79.
Todd Dixon scored 15 points and Kyle Lundy added 14 for SCC (10-1). Terry Scruggs added 10 points for San Bernardino (9-3).
“Bickmore played the best game he’s played in 2 years,” SCC Coach Bill Reynolds said. “He was excellent defensively and wasn’t afraid to go up against (Warren) for rebounds.”
