Party Treats With a Super Bowl Focus
Unlike traditional get-togethers that center around a dining room or buffet table, Super Bowl entertaining focuses on the television. So if a party for football enthusiasts is in order this Sunday, plan to make it a casual affair featuring foods that are quick to make and easy to eat.
One such dish is this Ranch-Style Party Dip. Topped with chopped green onion and Cheddar cheese, it is a perfect party starter. Serve with pretzels or crackers.
In addition to the following recipe, here are some variations if a different taste is desired. Prepare the dip according to package directions then add one of the following combinations:
Stir in one (10-ounce) package chopped spinach, thawed and drained, along with 1/4 cup minced onion, 3/4 teaspoon dried basil and 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano.
Add 1/3 cup crispy bacon bits and dash of chili powder. Serve with wafers or Swedish toasts.
Stir in one (6 1/2-ounce) can clams, drained and chopped, along with one teaspoon lemon juice. Serve with celery sticks.
Mash one medium avocado with 1 teaspoon lemon juice and dash of hot pepper sauce and stir into dip. Serve with corn chips.
