Kings Place Three on Campbell All-Star Team
Wayne Gretzky made the Campbell Conference team for the National Hockey League’s All-Star game Wednesday but had fewer votes than King teammate Luc Robitaille and former Edmonton teammate Grant Fuhr.
Gretzky was the top vote-getter of the fans at center with 270,988 votes but trailed Robitaille, who had 279,202, and Fuhr, who received 272,181.
Three Kings, including defenseman Steve Duchesne, and three Oilers, including right wing Jari Kurri and defenseman Kevin Lowe, were voted to the starting Campbell Conference team for the All-Star game against the Wales Conference Feb. 7 at Edmonton.
The Wales Conference starting team is composed of Pittsburgh’s Mario Lemieux, left wing Mats Naslund of Montreal, right wing Cam Neely of Boston, defensemen Paul Coffey of Pittsburgh and Ray Bourque of Boston, and goaltender Sean Burke of the New York Islanders.
