House, Condominium Prices in Santa Clarita Valley Set Records During December
Record average prices were set for both single-family houses and condominiums in the Santa Clarita Valley during December.
According to the Santa Clarita Valley Board of Realtors, the average house price reached $207,700 in December, a 20% increase from the December, 1987, average of $173,880. A total of 218 houses were sold in December.
Condominium prices, meanwhile, climbed 10% to $113,068 in December compared to the December, 1987, average of $103,200. A total of 102 condominiums were sold in December.
For all of 1988, the average house price was a record $191,100, an 18% jump from the 1987 average of $162,400. A total 2,388 houses were sold last year, a 12% increase from 1987.
Last year, 792 condominiums were sold, a 32% jump from 1987 sales, while the average condominium price of $107,650 last year marked an 11% increase from the 1987 average of $97,340.
The board’s survey includes sales of houses and condominiums by its members in the area from Val Verde to Acton, and does not include sales of new residences, which are generally sold without a real estate agent.
