Brutus Jackson, athletic director at Prairie View A&M;, asked to be temporarily reassigned during an internal investigation into allegations that the football coach extended practices and did not allow students study time.

Fifty-five football players voted last week to go on strike until Coach Haney Catchings is fired.

The players claim that Catchings is blocking their education, put them through unsafe drills, held frequent six-hour practices and threatened to suspend scholarship funds if athletes did not produce on the field.
