Community College Roundup : Cypress Beats El Camino in Softball
Cypress College scored an unearned run in the 10th inning to defeat El Camino, 3-2, Monday in a nonconference softball game at Cypress.
Kerry Callahan singled to open the 10th and went to second base on a wild pitch. One out later, Rose Ferrante hit a ground ball to shortstop Brandi Pilato who tried to get Callahan going to third. But Pilato’s throw hit Callahan in the back of the head and bounced far enough away for Callahan to score.
Colleen Moore (7-2) pitched a complete game for Cypress (10-2). Alisha Bokano was two for four for Cypress.
In a nonconference baseball game:
Cerritos 6, Golden West 4--Cerritos scored three runs in the sixth inning to give the host Falcons a 6-4 lead. Jarardo Perez had three hits including a a double and a solo home run for Cerritos (12-2), the top-ranked team in Southern California. Craig Paquette was three for four with two home runs and four RBIs for Golden West (6-4).
