Beverly Hills : Lucille Ball Honored
The City Council on Tuesday honored actress Lucille Ball for her contributions to show business and to the city of Beverly Hills, where she has lived for 37 years. The council also proclaimed 1989 “Lucille Ball Year” in Beverly Hills, and Mayor Robert Tanenbaum presented the star of the “I Love Lucy” television series with the keys to the city.
“You mean I can get into Jimmy Stewart’s home now?” Ball quipped when presented with the keys. Stewart is Ball’s neighbor.
“We have never wavered in our love and respect for Beverly Hills,” Ball said. “It is a beautiful, beautiful city.”
