WORLD : Separatists’ Bombs Kill 17 in India

GAUHATI, India — Three bombs exploded simultaneously today in a northeastern Indian town, killing at least 17 people, and state officials said separatist tribal militants were responsible for the attacks.
Police said at least 48 people were injured by the blasts in the town of Bongaigaon in Assam state. Two bombs went off in a crowded marketplace and a third blew up near a railroad crossing, police said.
