Pitcher Lea Retires

ORLANDO, Fla. —  Charlie Lea, whose successful comeback from three seasons of shoulder injuries helped the Minnesota Twins to their best record in 18 years last season, retired today because of continued shoulder problems. Lea, 32, the starter and winner for the National League in the 1984 All-Star Game, finished his six-year career with a 62-48 record and 3.54 ERA. The right-hander, who with the Montreal Expos won 16 games in 1983 and 15 in 1984, was 7-7 with a 4.85 ERA last season.
