Elderly Suicide: More Than a Matter of Life and Death
Why elderly people of either sex commit suicide is a complex issue. In our mercantile society, one was reminded in the 1930s to get rich quick or die. It is no different today. Wealth is no guarantee of an idyllic demise. The lack of it is no less agonizing, should one live. Life itself requires courage. Only those who are tested unto the end know this.
Cynics will dismiss this. Live on, I say, despite them. Live, long! Love, longer! At 73, I know what I say.
