Local news in Brief : Irvine : UCI Plans Festivities for Asian Heritage Week
UC Irvine will hold festivities next week to celebrate Asian Heritage Week. The free event, called “East Within West: Coming Together” is sponsored by UCI’s Asian-Pacific Student and Staff Assn. and will feature traditional music, dances, costumes and martial arts to reflect how Asian culture is preserved in the West.
“We hope to make this event an educational and enjoyable experience for the whole campus, not just Asian students, faculty and staff,” said Janis Sugawara, chairwoman of the event.
Daily activities and food sales will be held April 10 to 14 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Gateway Commons Plaza.
