Local News in Brief : Fountain Valley : Alleged Drunk Driver Held in Hit-and-Run
A Westminster man was arrested on suspicion of felony drunk driving and hit-and-run after he allegedly ran into a pickup in Fountain Valley, injuring another driver, authorities said Tuesday.
Police said John L. Kurtz, 40, ran into the back of a 1987 Mazda pickup driven by Robert T. Bain, 29, of Huntington Beach at the intersection of Euclid Street and Edinger Avenue in Fountain Valley about 8:45 p.m. Monday.
The impact caused the Mazda to spin across the intersection, over the center median and into a block wall, Fountain Valley Police Sgt. Larry Griswold said.
Kurtz left the scene in his 1971 Chevy truck, which was spotted about 20 minutes later on a residential street near the scene of the accident, Griswold said.
Police arrested Kurtz, who is being held at the Orange County Jail with bail set at $10,000.
Bain was treated for head and neck pains at Fountain Valley Regional Medical Center, Griswold said.
