Police Hunt Girl Reported Kidnaped by Ex-Boyfriend
Police on Tuesday were searching for a teen-ager who was kidnaped at gunpoint from her Santa Ana home by her estranged boyfriend, authorities said.
Family members told Santa Ana police that Cuong Tran, 24, forced his way into the 17-year-old girl’s home in the 1000 block of West Central Avenue about 8:20 p.m. Monday.
“He pulled out a handgun and forced his ex-girlfriend to leave with him,” said police spokeswoman Maureen Thomas.
Tran fired several rounds into the apartment as he left, but no one was injured, Thomas said.
Police did not know Tran’s current address and declined to discuss his relationship with the girl, whose name was withheld because of her age. They said no one had heard from Tran or the girl since the incident.
A man who answered the telephone Tuesday at the girl’s home declined to discuss the incident.
Two neighbors who would not give their names said Tuesday that they heard two gunshots, looked outside and saw “a guy dragging a girl to the car.”
