THE OPPOSITE SEX edited by Anne Campbell (Salem House: $24.95; 256 pp.) This graphically colorful collection of essays about the social behavior and psychological constitution of women and men, written in the conversational, pop-science style of “Psychology Today,” occasionally falters in asking silly questions like “Which sex is more romantic?” Most chapters, however, offer intriguing revelations, reporting, for example, that androgynous personalities--masculine girls and feminine boys--tend to score dramatically higher than average on creativity tests.
