Arcadia : Council Names New Mayor
Roger Chandler took the gavel as the city’s new mayor Tuesday after fellow City Council members selected him unanimously for the post.
Robert Harbicht, who completed a one-year term as mayor, resumed his seat as a councilman.
The council also unanimously selected Councilwoman Mary Young as mayor pro tem, replacing Chandler.
Chandler, 44, a lieutenant in the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, is in his first four-year council term.
He said the city has been effective in controlling the size of new homes and will continue those efforts.
Young, 68, who owns an interior decorating business, is serving her second term on the council.
