LOCAL : Exxon Tanker Adrift Off Coast

SEATTLE — A fully loaded Exxon oil tanker lost power and was drifting off the Washington coast today, the Coast Guard reported.
A commercial tug was called to the Exxon Philadelphia, which was drifting nine miles off Cape Flattery, the northwestern tip of Washington’s Olympic Peninsula, Coast Guard spokesman Andre Billeaudeaux said.
The 810-foot tanker had engine problems and lost power on its way to a refinery near Anacortes. The Coast Guard launched a plane and helicopter to monitor the tanker.
