Youth Sent to Prison in Gang-Related Slaying
A Pacoima gang member was sentenced Tuesday to eight years in prison for the fatal shooting of a 16-year-old rival gang member.
Mario Hernandez, 18, was sentenced by San Fernando Superior Court Judge Ronald S. Coen after pleading guilty to voluntary manslaughter in the Nov. 20 shooting death of Arturo Grosso. Grosso was shot once in the back with a .22-caliber handgun, said Deputy Dist. Atty. Edward Nison.
The victim and members of his gang had been fighting with the defendant’s group at the Telfair Avenue and Goleta Street in Pacoima, Nison said.
