Athletic programs at Louisiana state colleges and universities are in jeopardy as Gov. Buddy Roemer examines ways to trim more than $700 million from state’s budget, officials say.
Among the cuts legislators are considering are $13.5 million in funding through students’ fees to 13 state institutions. The cut would eliminate all state support for intercollegiate athletics.
