Thursday’s scheduled dedication of “The Tell,” the 600-foot photo mural erected along Laguna Canyon Road, has been postponed indefinitely until assembly of the project--which involves about 100,000 photographs--has been completed.
However, a reception for another project by “The Tell” creators, Mark Chamberlain and Jerry Burchfield, will take place Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Art Institute of Southern California in Laguna Beach. Viewers of “New Works from the Canyon Project,” on view at the Institute, will be able to board a shuttle bus that night to visit the nearby site of “The Tell.”
“New Works from the Canyon Project,” which remains on view through June 30, consists of one-of-a-kind, large-scale Cibachrome photographs that transform debris found along the Canyon Road into colorful abstract designs.
The next scheduled event at “The Tell” site will be on June 4, a celebration of Orange County Earth Day that will involve local environmental groups.
