Joseph W. Brown Jr. has been elected president of Fireman’s Fund Insurance Co., Novato, by the directors of its parent, Fireman’s Fund Corp. Brown, 40, joined Fireman’s Fund in 1974 in the actuarial department, was appointed vice president in 1981 and two years later was elected senior vice president-corporate agency interface and ceded reinsurance. He was elected executive vice president in 1983 and chief financial officer in 1984. In 1986, he was named vice chairman and assumed additional responsibilities for the company’s computer systems and services.
