Gate-Crashing Guest Bears Remembering
From Associated Press
PORTAGE, Wis. — Cozette Griffin and her husband had just finished dinner when an unexpected visitor, a bear, crashed through the front door, tore though the house and left through a kitchen window.
Authorities estimated that the bear weighed from 200 to 275 pounds. “It will be indelibly etched in my memory,” Cozette Griffin, 62, said Monday.
Police Officer Tom Moore said he and a colleague chased the bear from the Griffin home to the bottomland of the nearby Wisconsin River, the last place he saw the animal.
