Boy Scouts to Honor Retiring Police Chief
Hawthorne Police Chief Kenneth R. Stonebraker, who will retire in July after 30 years with the department, will be honored as Good Scout of the Year by the Centinela District Boy Scouts of America at a Flag Day dinner June 14.
Hawthorne Councilman Charles Bookhammer is chairman of the event, which will start at 6:30 p.m. in the main ballroom at the Cockatoo Inn, 4334 W. Imperial Highway, Hawthorne.
Stonebraker will be honored for his community activities on behalf of Scouting, the YMCA and senior citizens as well as for “helping to create law-enforcement techniques and programs that are now models for others to follow,” Bookhammer said.
Reservations are being accepted by Doug Hilke, 413-4400, Ext. 238.
