The yellow brick road led six of the original Munchkins to the lakeside Michigan town where L. Frank Baum lived when he wrote “The Wizard of Oz,” the book on which the movie was based. The actors were on hand in Holland, Mich., to join in a weekend celebration of the 50th anniversary of the movie classic. Festival organizers said some of the book’s characters and scenery may have been inspired by southwestern Michigan, and Baum is believed to have based the Dorothy character, played in the film by Judy Garland, on two local girls who bore that name.
