WORLD : Reagan Honored 2nd Time on Tour
PARIS — Former President Ronald Reagan was inducted today into the prestigious French Academy of Moral and Political Sciences, his second honor during a weeklong European tour.
Reagan became an associate member of the honorary academy of political, religious and civic leaders one day after receiving an honorary knighthood from Queen Elizabeth II in London. Reagan and his wife, Nancy, arrived from London today for a three-day visit to Paris, where they also planned to help celebrate the 100th birthday of the Eiffel Tower.
Reagan became the sixth U.S. President to join the academy’s ranks, taking over a vacancy created by the death of Swiss theologian Hans Urs Von Balthasar.
