Lancaster Man, 19, Drowns in Reservoir
A 19-year-old Lancaster man drowned Thursday while attempting to swim across Littlerock Reservoir with a 15-year-old companion, who was rescued by onlookers, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department reported.
Authorities withheld the dead man’s name until relatives could be notified. The boy, also unidentified, was treated at Antelope Valley Hospital Medical Center and released.
The two were about halfway across the reservoir, south of the Antelope Valley community of Littlerock, when they became fatigued and decided to turn back, Deputy Pat Hunter said. The 15-year-old called for help, and several people nearby swam to his rescue. They were unable to reach the 19-year-old, whose body was later recovered from 15 feet of water about 120 feet from the shoreline, Hunter said.
