Eight UCLA employees were arrested Thursday for allegedly selling marijuana and cocaine to an undercover campus police officer, officials at the Westwood campus said. Five of the suspects work at the UCLA Medical Center, but none was involved in direct patient care, a university spokesman said.

The hospital employees arrested were identified by authorities as Ronald Jones, 47; Rayford Reader, 41; Adrienne Campbell, 37; Fran Hatcher, 32, and Greg Pompey, 36. The others arrested were Carolyn Brown, 45; David Franc, 41, and Debbie Franc, 37, university police said. Investigators said they had not determined whether the Francs were related.

All of the suspects except Brown were arrested on campus, and they all live in Los Angeles, the spokesman said. They were booked at the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s West Hollywood substation for felony possession of drugs for sale, authorities said.

The largest quantity of drugs allegedly purchased during the six-month investigation was two ounces of cocaine, university police said. None of the drugs allegedly sold were taken from the hospital, officials said.
