Drop-Off for Toxic Household Wastes
San Diego County residents with household toxic wastes can drop them off Saturday at a free, drive-through dumping service sponsored by the county.
The household hazardous waste collection will be at Birney Elementary School, 4345 Campus Ave., from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Household toxic wastes include motor oil, old car batteries, unwanted paint and paint thinners, chlorine products, aerosols, pesticides and other flammable and corrosive or poisonous materials. Such products cannot legally be dumped in the trash or down the drain.
The drive-through collection, sponsored by the county’s Environmental Health Services, will not accept explosive, radioactive or business wastes, but will take unidentifiable materials.
